ELKO, NV โ€” Elko Police activated SWAT on April 7 after a man reportedly pointed a firearm at his roommate at a Stoneridge Drive address. Robert Frisch was taken into custody after a more-than-hour-long standoff that drew officers from multiple agencies. The Elko Police Department reported the incident on its Facebook page.

  • The Incident: Officers were called to Stoneridge Drive on a report of assault with a deadly weapon. The alleged victim โ€” Frisch’s roommate โ€” was removed from the residence on arrival.
  • The Standoff: SWAT was activated after Frisch was reported to be inside and armed. Nearby residents were asked to evacuate. Officers surrounded the residence and attempted contact for over an hour without response.
  • Deployment: Chemical agents and distraction devices were deployed to compel Frisch to exit. Negotiations teams reached him by phone and learned he had left the residence.
  • Arrest: Frisch returned to the residence on foot. After being uncooperative, a less-than-lethal 40mm round was deployed and he was taken into custody without further incident.
  • Assisting Agencies: The Elko County Sheriff’s Office, Elko Fire Department, and Elko County Ambulance assisted on scene.
