Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 25, 2026

The Elko Brief is committed to your privacy. We prioritize high-signal news over high-volume data collection. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it to improve your experience.

What We Collect

Site Analytics

We use two primary services to understand how our site is used. This data is collected in the aggregate and is not used to identify you personally.

  1. Cloudflare Web Analytics: A privacy-first service that tracks page views and general traffic trends without using persistent cookies or cross-site tracking.
  2. Google Analytics (GA4): We use Google Analytics to help us understand which of our investigations and briefs are most impactful. GA4 uses first-party cookies to track interaction data. This information helps us refine our “Signal > Noise” mission.

What we can see (in aggregate, not individually):

  • Page views and visit counts
  • Which stories are most popular
  • General geographic region (city/state level)
  • Device type (mobile vs desktop)
  • Referrer (how you found us)

Server Logs

Basic access logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) are maintained by our hosting provider for security and performance purposes. These logs are automatically deleted after 30 days.

No Personal Information Required

You can read all content without providing any personal information. We do not require registration, accounts, or subscriptions.

What We Don’t Do

  • ❌ No selling or trading your personal data
  • ❌ No third-party marketing trackers or “retargeting” pixels
  • ❌ No personalized advertising tracking
  • ❌ No account requirements
